This is an introductory college preparatory course for students interested in pursing a career in business, the financial field, or in Accounting. The complete accounting cycle will be taught for the three types of businesses: proprietorship, partnership, and corporation. The student will develop the ability to analyze, record transactions, prepare financial statements, and then interpret the results of a business operation. Payroll will also be taught, and time will be spent in preparing simple income tax returns. Students will be involved in the 10 week Stock Market Game, administered by the NJ Economic Commission at Kean University.

This course is a continuation of Accounting 1 for students who plan to continue their education in Accounting and/or Business Administration. An in-depth study will be made on corporation accounting, stocks and bonds, managerial accounting, financial accounting, and not-for-profit accounting. The student will learn how to use a spreadsheet in order to generate different types of financial statements. Students will be involved in the 10 week Stock Market Game, administered by the NJ Economic Commission at Kean University.

The first semester of this course will unlock the mysteries of what businesses are, how they work, and the impact they have on students' everyday lives. Students will learn what steps they can take to prepare for success in their future careers. The second semester of this course will provide the student with the basics of international business. Focus will be on social, cultural, political, and economic factors and will allow the students to see global differences in this area. International finance and economics will be covered. Students will be involved in the 10 week Stock Market Game each semester, administered by the NJ Economic Commission at Kean University.
