Spartan of the Year Award

24 SOY

Bridgewater resident Rob Hellwig has been named Immaculata High School’s “Spartan of the Year” in recognition of his unflagging commitment of time and talent to the school.

Hellwig, a 1993 graduate of Immaculata and parent of students at both Immaculata High School and its parish sister school, Immaculate Conception School, has been instrumental in building community and raising significant funds through his volunteer efforts, said school principal Ed Webber.

Hellwig is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame committee, honoring notable Immaculata alumni who have given back to the school and who stand as exemplars in the community of the school’s foundational pillars of Faith, Scholarship, Friendship and Service.

Hellwig is also a founder and officer of Unitas Caritas, a philanthropic organization that has supported athletic efforts at the school including refurbishment of the weight room, construction of a film room, and acquisition and maintenance of a turf field. These facilities have enabled Immaculata to be a highly competitive and attractive school for top athletes in many sports.

Honored at a ceremony held at the school’s annual Jazz Supper Club, Hellwig reflected on his involvement with the school and parish, where his family is actively involved. “I’m humbled by this recognition,” he said, “but my greatest satisfaction comes from seeing this school make such an enormous difference in the faith lives of so many students and families - including my own - over the years.”
