What is the HSPT?
The High School Placement Test (HSPT) is a standardized assessment utilized by many Catholic high schools nationwide and serves as a mandatory component of the admissions process for schools within the Diocese of Metuchen. The exam spans approximately two and a half hours and features a multiple-choice format.
The HSPT evaluates a student’s abilities across several key academic areas, including reading comprehension, sentence completion, verbal skills, spelling and vocabulary, and quantitative reasoning. As students are permitted to take the HSPT only once, comprehensive preparation is essential for success.
To support students in achieving their best possible performance, Immaculata High School offers a dedicated HSPT Prep Course. This program is designed to thoroughly prepare students in each section of the exam, equipping them with the skills and strategies needed to excel.
Two Exceptional Paths to High School Success—Choose the One That’s Right for You
Immaculata High School is proud to offer two tailored options as part of this year’s HSPT Prep Course, designed to support students on their path to high school admissions success:
Option 1: HSPT Testing & Early Acceptance
Students enrolled in the summer HSPT Prep Course may take the official HSPT exam on the final day of the program—Friday, August 1. Those who complete the Application for Admission to the Class of 2030 by August 1 will receive an early admissions decision by the end of August.
This option is ideal for students who have chosen Immaculata as their first-choice high school and are ready to get a head start on their future. Early applicants may also be considered for academic merit scholarships, with decisions issued well ahead of the regular timeline. Please note: all offers of admission and/or scholarships through this Early Acceptance Program must be confirmed by November 1.
Option 2: Pre-HSPT & Regular Admissions Program
Students may also opt to take the Pre-HSPT on the final day of the prep course—Friday, August 1—instead of the official exam. This diagnostic-style assessment mirrors the actual HSPT and is perfect for students who want additional time to prepare while becoming familiar with the format and expectations of the exam.
Students who choose this option will take the official HSPT in November with admissions decisions released in late December.
The cost of the camp is $225 and includes all materials and testing fees.
Important Note: Parents will receive an email in early July to confirm their student’s preferred testing option.
Space is limited—only 50 students will be admitted to the Summer 2025 HSPT Prep Course. Don’t miss this opportunity to prepare with confidence and get a head start on high school success. Register today!
