Helen M. Sanford

Director of Campus Ministry

Helen SanfordHelen established the Campus Ministry Program for Immaculata in 1993. Under Helenʼs guidance all liturgies and prayer services were planned for the high school, several life-changing weekend retreats occurred every year, and over 150 service opportunities exist for our teens to live out the schoolʼs motto: Unitas Caritas (unity through charity).

She also was the co-founder, with her son, Sean, of JusticeworX, an organization that taught young Catholics the Churchʼs tenets on social justice and created opportunities for these teens to put these beliefs into practice in deprived areas of Trenton. She was a diocesan Teacher of the Year, won the Community Service Award from the Samaritan Homeless Interim Progam, and the Regina Nostra Award for lay ministry in the diocese. She also had the joy of receiving the Faith Justice Foundersʼ Award from the Center of Faith Justice. During her time, Immaculataʼs Campus Ministry Office was the only one nationwide to receive the Charity Social Service Award twice from the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.
