In school Coach Michelle Kovach was always active in several sports and began playing volleyball in 7th grade. In junior high she played setter, but when she entered high school, played libero, or a defensive specialist. She played libero at the varsity level and enjoyed nothing more than getting the dig off of a hit.
When Coach Kovach entered college at the University of Dayton, she decided to focus on academics, but continued her love of sports through the intramural program. In the years since she quit playing volleyball competitively, Coach Kovach has enjoyed watching college and professional level volleyball. When it became a possibility that Immaculata might have a volleyball team, she was immediately interested.

"Over the last few years, it has been amazing to watch the girls grow in their love of volleyball and in their skills on the court," says Coach Kovach. "Looking forward, I am excited to continue to develop the Girls Varsity and JV programs, as well as starting up the Boys JV program. Throughout the season, my philosophy has always been the same: Let's work together, continually work on improving our skills, but most importantly—have fun. And I think we have been able to do just that. My hope for all athletes that come through this program is that they learn about a new sport, become disciplined and dedicated athletes, and learn to be part of a team effort."
