IHS students transformed at National Catholic Youth Conference.

This past weekend, a group of Immaculata High School students joined more than 16,000 young Catholics at the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Indianapolis—one of the largest gatherings of Catholic teens in the United States. Hosted biennially, NCYC brings together youth from across the country for three days of worship, keynote speakers, music, workshops, and joyful celebration, all designed to energize and deepen their relationship with Christ and His Church. For many, it serves as a transformative experience that strengthens faith, builds community, and inspires the next generation of Catholic leaders.
Immaculata’s delegation experienced that impact firsthand. Over three days, our students witnessed the gifts of the Holy Spirit in action at every turn. They joined thousands of others in prayer and praise, learned from dynamic Catholic speakers, and shared unforgettable moments of fellowship.

One of the most memorable highlights came when students had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to video chat with Pope Leo XIV—an experience that left them smiling, speechless, and deeply moved. The group also participated in Eucharistic Adoration at Lucas Oil Stadium, where the quiet reverence of 16,000 teenagers created an atmosphere of profound peace. The weekend concluded with a powerful Mass celebrated by 24 bishops, 240 priests (including our own Fr. Jay), and countless deacons, reminding our students of the beautiful universality of the Catholic Church.

Colleen Paras '99, Director of Campus Ministry, shared, "This event was such a moving experience for me. Watching our students, surrounded by other teens seeking Jesus with all their hearts, find deep and meaningful connections in prayer was just awesome. I was so happy to hear them highlight the Sacraments and Adoration as the best parts of the experience. They were living the exact truths that Pope Leo XIV invited them to live. As a minister to them, there is nothing more beautiful for me to see than the students embracing the call of God.”

Immaculata is grateful to Mrs. Hummel, Fr. Jay, and Mr. Simon for generously chaperoning the trip and guiding our students through this extraordinary experience.
As our students return home with renewed faith, new friendships, and hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate all the ways they encountered Christ at NCYC—and the ways they will continue to bring that joy back to our school community.
