Immaculata considers Katie Van Doren ΚΌ03 as one of the best tennis players in Spartan history. As Captain in her senior year, Katie was Somerset County 2nd singles tennis champion, the first Immaculata tennis player to win an individual title at a Somerset County Tournament. Star Ledger Athlete of the Week, Katie was first team in the area with a 24-0 record, losing only one set all season. The Immaculata tennis team won the Mountain Valley Conference again and reached the state finals for the first time in school history. Incredibly, she was MVP all four years of high school.
She also played a role in an incredible 4-year run of the Lady Spartans basketball team. In her freshman year, her JV team went 22-0. She started varsity for the next three years in which the Spartans were three-time Mountain Valley Conference Champs and three-time Somerset County champs. In her senior year as captain, Katie helped her team to a 25-3 record, a #10 final state ranking, the NJ Parochial A State Championship, the top nod as the Number One Area team by the Courier News, and a personal Honorable Mention for all area basketball.
