2024: From the Ashes

The 2024 Immaculata High School Spartan Marching Band has been named National Champions in the USBands competition circuit, outperforming 18 high school bands from seven states at the competition held in Allentown, Pennsylvania. It is the 3rd national title for Immaculata High School and 22nd championship overall.

The band’s program, called From the Ashes, was an eclectic blend of traditional and contemporary works, from artists as diverse as Igor Stravinsky and John Lennon and Paul McCartney, that explored the mythical phoenix’s journey from birth to flight, death and rebirth.

"The success this season was a testament to the hard work and dedication of every member of the band," said Zachary Wroblewski, Spartan Marching Band Director. “This band has been an inspiration, pushing each other, the staff, and the entire community to rally behind them, making this a year for the history books."

The band, with 41 members, consists of brass, woodwinds, percussion, and color guard, and is led by drum major Ashley Petlick, field commanders Charlotte Redmond and Tyler Pollock, and a talented group of student leaders. For many of the students, the experience was one of personal growth and leadership.

"My favorite part of being in the IHS Marching Band is the camaraderie we form as a group," said senior Tyler Pollock, field commander. "Seeing how the band responded to adversity — whether it was rain, cancellations, or fatigue — was a true test of our leadership, and it helped me grow as a person.”

Senior Drum Major Ashley Petlick reflected on the season, stating, "This year was incredibly special to me. Watching the show grow from the podium and feeling the energy from the band was something I'll never forget. The IHS Marching Band became a second family to me, and the friendships and experiences I've gained will stay with me forever."

Over a dozen alumni served the band’s staff this year, contributing expertise to the design and execution of the show. The band was also joined by students from the parish’s elementary school, Immaculate Conception School, who added to the spectacle with their kite-flying and choreography.

Immaculata’s marching band program continues to thrive due to the dedication of their parents and community volunteers. From preparing flags to organizing pre-show dinners, the band's success is supported by a strong parent community that selflessly shares their time, talent, and resources.
