Spartans Selected For Education Programs
Posted on 06/28/2022

American Legion Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students. It is a participatory program in which students become part of the operation of local, county, and state government.  American Legion Jersey Boys State is one of the best and most prestigious youth programs in the United States today. This session will mark its 76th anniversary.  Our boys, Davis Adams, Gavin Fitzgerald, and Jack Tully were selected and are being sponsored by a representative from the Somerville, New Jersey  American Legion Post 12.  They will be representing Immaculata at the program at Rider University.

We have 2 girls attending the Girls' Career Institute.

Girls' Career Institute offers a "mini college experience" at Douglass Residential College on the campus of Rutgers University. Delegates experience a sample of college life by living in a dorm, eating in a cafeteria, and attending lectures and workshops. They learn about career choices from volunteer professional speakers and how to network with other delegates from all over the state of New Jersey. Many establish lasting friendships with one another.

Our delegates, Fiona Quinn and Abigail Stowe were selected on the basis of interest, community service and participation in school activities and are sponsored by Somerville Civic League/Somerville Women's Club.

Congratulations to our Spartans.
