George C. Anderson passed away on July 1, 2022.

Born in the Bronx, NY on January 3, 1931 to the late George and Margaret (Egan) Anderson, George attended Holy Family Grammar School and Cardinal Hayes High School (1949) and graduated with a BBS from St. John’s University (1956).

George enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served his country during the Korean War. He spent the majority of his entire business career in the dye stuff and chemical industry. First employed at Ciba and then later for 19 years at American Cyanamid (Charlotte, NC and Bound Brook, NJ) where he was involved in technical sales management. In 1984 he established his own company (GEM-J) and became a manufacturers representative for major companies – Moby, Fabricolor, SUS Chemical, Bayer and others. He retired in 2002.

George was active in the B.P.O.E. and served 2 years as the Exalted Ruler in Bound Brook. He was involved with the Immaculata High School (Somerville, NJ) football programs for over 35 years. Something he was immensely proud of. He was named “Spartan of the Year” in 1987. He was also a member of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists for over 50 years, Marine Corps League, American Legion and Ancient Order of Hibernians. George was an avid Philadelphia Eagles football fan – holding season tickets for over 45 years! (Go Birds!)

George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katherine (Devany), and his four children, Esther (Nick Krochta), George (Audrey), Jennifer and Michael Anderson. He has six grandchildren (Adam, Derek, Mary Katherine, Liam, Brigitte and Ava May) as well as four great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Samantha.

Friends and family may visit the Sheenan Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 7th, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Bound Brook, New Jersey. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in George’s name to Jack’s Kids, an organization that was dear to his heart. Donations may be directed to: https://jackskids.org (Click on the Venmo donation link.)
