Spartan TV Kicks Off the School Year — A Showcase of Student Talent and Creative Leadership

This week’s highlight belongs to the talented students of Spartan TV, Immaculata High School’s student-run broadcast network that continues to raise the bar in creativity, professionalism, and school spirit. The program’s latest kickoff marks another exciting year of storytelling, production, and collaboration—entirely led by students with real, hands-on experience behind the camera and in front of it.
Spartan TV is more than a club—it’s a working production team. Each week, students take full control of the broadcast process: writing scripts, filming, directing, editing, and anchoring the news segments that showcase everything happening across campus. Whether capturing highlights from athletic events, spotlighting student achievements, or creating fun, engaging features, the Spartans have mastered the art of school storytelling.

The energy in the Digital Arts Studio is electric. Students rotate roles throughout the semester—camera operator, editor, anchor, or producer—giving everyone the chance to explore their creative interests. Each episode reflects the team’s growing professionalism, from smooth transitions and high-quality visuals to the confident delivery of their anchors. The broadcasts are not only entertaining but also a testament to the teamwork, responsibility, and pride that define the Spartan spirit.
While the spotlight shines on the students, their success is made possible through the steady guidance of Mr. Joe DeVito III, Immaculata alumnus (Class of 1998) and Visual Department Supervisor. Mr. DeVito, an award-winning filmmaker and founder of Mariano Films, brings real-world media experience and a creative eye that elevates Spartan TV’s production standards. His passion for storytelling—and his belief in empowering students to take ownership of their work—has helped transform the studio into one of the most dynamic student media programs in the region.

Mr. DeVito’s mentorship gives students access to industry-level insight and the confidence to produce professional-quality content. Under his leadership, Spartan TV has become a training ground for aspiring broadcasters, filmmakers, and content creators—preparing them with skills that extend well beyond high school.
For many students, Spartan TV is their first step into the world of media and communication.
- Hands-on Learning: Every episode offers real-world practice with cameras, editing software, lighting, and on-screen performance.
- Teamwork and Leadership: Students learn to collaborate, problem-solve, and manage deadlines—skills that will serve them in any career.
- Creative Voice: Spartan TV gives students a platform to express their ideas and highlight what makes Immaculata’s community special.

As this school year unfolds, Spartan TV is set to grow even stronger—with new faces joining the team, creative projects on the horizon, and more opportunities for students to tell their stories. From the newsroom to the editing suite, these Spartans are gaining not just technical skills, but confidence, purpose, and a sense of community.
With their talent, enthusiasm, and guidance from Mr. DeVito, Spartan TV continues to shine as one of Immaculata’s proudest student achievements—proving that when students take the lead, great stories are told.
