Immaculata's award-winning Campus Ministry program provides bountiful service to the community!
Posted on 10/06/2025

Immaculata High School's Campus Ministry program truly is the heart of the school, uniquely fulfilling the core pillar of Service by empowering our students to live out their Catholic faith through tangible action. Under the dedicated leadership of Director Mrs. Colleen Paras '99 and Community Outreach Coordinator Mr. Rich Grieshaber, our nationally recognized, award-winning program distinguishes itself with an exceptional combination of depth and flexibility, ensuring a true alignment with Catholic Social Teaching.

According to Paras: "Immaculata moves beyond a simple requirement for service hours by offering unique opportunities that engage every student, regardless of their busy schedules, which helps build a deep and unifying culture of giving across the entire student body. Our commitment is so consistent and reliable that it has earned the deep trust of local partners; organizations which include the Somerset County Park Commission and the Special Olympics regularly reach out for our student volunteers, because they have personally witnessed their dedication and the profound impact they make. The central message of our Campus Ministry program is that service is not a burden but a direct path to self-discovery and a deeper relationship with Christ. As our students develop their personal talents, they are shown that these God-given gifts are urgently needed by the world. By actively moving their focus outside of themselves to serve those in need, they gain an invaluable sense of purpose and fulfillment that far surpasses any material success."

The opportunities provided by Campus Ministry organically cultivate true servant-leadership, preparing IHS students for a higher calling and instilling a deep sense of worthiness that will last well beyond their high school years. In the long-term, Paras says: "We hope to sustain our vital current outreach programs while continually introducing new opportunities, ultimately inspiring our students to become so attuned to the world's needs that they create their own non-profit organizations, carrying their faith and service commitment into their adult lives. This is the profound joy of knowing you have made a tangible difference; this is the essence of Campus Ministry at Immaculata."
