Immaculata Basketball prepares for County Tournaments.
Posted on 01/27/2026

Both Immaculata basketball programs delivered statement performances this past week, fueled by standout individual efforts and strong momentum heading into the Somerset County Tournament.

On the girls’ side, Alexa Regan turned in a career night, pouring in 36 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in a hard-fought 58–56 loss to Mt. St. Mary’s. Regan was dominant on both ends of the floor, scoring at all three levels while continuing to be a defensive force in the paint. Her performance showcased the versatility and confidence she has displayed all season as the Lady Spartans prepare to face Mt. St. Mary’s once again in the first round of the Somerset County Tournament as the No. 14 seed. Regan now sits at 824 career points, closing in on the 1,000-point milestone as her impact continues to grow for the Lady Spartans.

On the boys’ side, senior Riley Gorman continues to put together an exceptional stretch of basketball. In his most recent outing, Gorman scored 30 points in a win over Irvington, marking his sixth straight game with 20 or more points and his 10th 20-point performance in 15 games this season. He is now averaging approximately 18 points per game and sits just 159 points shy of the 1,000-point milestone for his career. Gorman’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding the Spartans to a 12–3 record and the No. 5 seed in the county tournament.

The Spartans have also built an impressive résumé this winter, highlighted by a Top 20 win in New Jersey over Union earlier in the season. Immaculata followed that performance with a championship run at the Battle at the Bomb Shelter Holiday Tournament, defeating Union in the semifinal round before capturing the title with a win over Sayreville.

Now, tournament season has arrived. The Spartan boys will take on the winner of Bernards vs. Manville this Saturday in the second round of the Somerset County Tournament, while the girls look to carry their momentum into their opening-round matchup.

With confidence high and leaders stepping up, Immaculata basketball is ready for a strong county run.
