Solar Suitcase

Some of the solar suitcases built in our Intro to Engineering class at Immaculata High School were deployed to Kenya. These suitcases were built in the Spring of 2019 since the IHS team was not able to build any last Spring. The Solar Suitcases were installed in Narok, Kenya by their amazing installation partner, +254 Solar Energy CBO (formerly Change Mtaani), a community-based organization for youth empowerment in the Kibera slum near Nairobi.

The installers in Makueni, Kenya, were WISEE (Women in Sustainable Energy and Entrepreneurship), an all-female solar installation team. WISEE empowers women in design, installation, and dissemination of clean and efficient energy technologies and serves to foster entrepreneurship among women in the sustainable energy field across Kenya.

Students of Kenya were thrilled to see the installation, firsthand, and can not wait to experience the benefits of the new solar lighting systems.

Thank you to Mr. Kedersha and the Intro to Engineering class for another great year helping to light the world for the people of Kenya!

Spartan Proud!
