The Immaculata High School Athletic Department is announcing an important leadership transition within its boys lacrosse program.
After six seasons of dedicated service, Coach Dave Hobson has stepped down as Head Boys’ Lacrosse Coach to pursue professional career opportunities. During his tenure, Hobson guided the Spartans to a conference championship and helped establish a strong, character‑driven culture that has positively shaped countless student‑athletes.
Athletic Director Tom Gambino expressed deep appreciation for Hobson’s contributions, stating:
“Coach Hobson has been a tremendous leader for our program. His commitment to developing young men of character and competing at a high level has left a lasting legacy at Immaculata.”
Christian Cuccinello Named Head Boys Lacrosse Coach
Immaculata High School is proud to announce that Christian Cuccinello has been appointed the new Head Boys Lacrosse Coach, marking a significant addition to both the school community and the New Jersey lacrosse landscape.
Cuccinello brings an elite playing and coaching résumé. A native of Mountain Lakes, he was a New Jersey Player of the Year, High School All‑American, and record‑setting standout before starring at Villanova University, where he became one of the top attackmen in program history and a Tewaaraton Award semifinalist. He later competed professionally in Major League Lacrosse and the Premier Lacrosse League.
Internationally, Cuccinello has represented the Italy men’s national lacrosse team since 2018, competing in multiple international tournaments, including two World Championships. At the 2023 World Games, he led the event in points per game and now contributes to Italy’s national team development.
As a coach, Cuccinello has spent years developing athletes through First Class Lacrosse, working with players across youth, high school, and collegiate levels.
Athletic Director Tom Gambino highlighted the significance of the hire, noting:
“Christian Cuccinello is one of the most respected young minds in the sport. His experience, his communication skills, and his passion for teaching align perfectly with the mission of Immaculata Athletics. We are confident he will elevate our program and position our student‑athletes for long‑term success.”
Statement from Coach Cuccinello
“I am honored to lead the Immaculata boys lacrosse program. This is a school with tremendous potential, strong values, and a community that cares deeply about its student‑athletes. My goal is to build one of the premier high school lacrosse programs in the state of New Jersey, a program defined by toughness, discipline, and a commitment to excellence on and off the field. I am especially excited to introduce our star‑studded coaching staff, a group of high‑level teachers of the game who share my vision for what Immaculata lacrosse can become.”
Immaculata High School proudly welcomes Christian and his wife, Kylie, into the Spartan family.
