Michael Liscovitz, Class of ’71, and Joanne Liscovitz will be recognized by the school for their exceptional services and unwavering commitment in the community.

Immaculata High School will confer the honor at its annual Mackie Award Brunch and Golf Classic, which will be held this year on September 30 at the Raritan Valley Country Club, 747 NJ-28, Bridgewater. Michael, an Immaculata High School alumnus, has continually supported his alma mater. He was a member of Coach Frauenheim’s football staff in the early 1980s, served as a member of the High School Advisory Board, was a member of the Hall of Fame Gala Committee, has helped with his class of ’71 reunions, and is a founding member of the Unitas Caritas Foundation.

Joanne taught Freshman English at Immaculata from 1980 to 1984, coordinated the entertainment segments for Spartan Spirit, and directed the school plays. She continues to support many Immaculata fundraising efforts, as well as the class reunions of the students she taught. Joanne co-founded Dance for the Cure in 1999, a local, 100% volunteer charity, dedicated to helping individuals struggling financially when dealing with breast cancer. To date, Dance for the Cure has gifted over $1 Million dollars to breast cancer patients in Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex and Mercer counties.

Both Michael and Joanne are graduates of King’s College in Wilkes Barre, PA and began their careers as English teachers. Michael transitioned into the tech industry before retiring, while Joanne continues to enjoy a successful career with Coldwell Banker Realty, since leaving her teaching position at Immaculata.

Michael and Joanne have experienced what it means to be a part of the Immaculata Family, Michael as a student and a coach, Joanne as an educator, and both, most recently, as parents. Valuing Catholic education, they chose to send their children, Meredith, ’02 and Brian, ’06 to Immaculata, where they too benefited from a wonderful education while forging lasting friendships.

First presented in 2008 and named after J. Brandon "Mackie" Maxwell Jr., the inaugural recipient, the Mackie Award honors individuals who have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to advancing the school's mission through service to the school community. The award is a testament to the recipients' dedication, hard work, and the positive impact they have had on the Immaculata community. Michael and Joanne Liscovitz embody these qualities, making them exemplary recipients of the 2024 Mackie Award.

Their extensive involvement and contributions have enriched the lives of those within the Immaculata community and set a standard of excellence and commitment that inspires others. The Liscovitzs’ dedication to service, education, and community is a shining example of the values the Mackie Award seeks to honor.
