Rich Dupras, Jr. '78, a resident of Hillsborough, NJ, has been named the 2020 Mackie Award winner for his service to his alma mater. Rich has been married for thirty-four years to his college sweetheart, Lisa. Rich is a twenty-four year Information Technology professional currently working as a Storage Systems Engineer for Dell Technologies.

Initiated in 2008, the Mackie Award is presented at the annual Immaculata Golf Classic, held this year on Monday, September 28th at Heron Glen Golf Course, Ringoes, NJ. Rich’s commitment to the school reflects the spirit of the late J. Brandon (Mackie) Maxwell, the award’s first recipient and for whom the award is named. Through his tremendous volunteer work and donations (especially in Athletics), Mackie was a huge supporter of Immaculata.

As the oldest of nine children, Rich Dupras, Jr. was the first family member to graduate from Immaculate Conception School and Immaculata High School. Two sons, Rich III ‘08 and Matt ‘11, three nieces, one nephew, and three in-laws followed in his footsteps, bringing the total of IHS Dupras-related graduates to 18. In addition, his parents were very involved in the parent organization, with his mother, Beda Dupras, co-founding the annual fashion show and winning the Spartan of the Year Award in 1986.

As a student, Rich was a member of the National and Spanish Honor Societies, four-year member of the Student Council, and four-year member of the Immaculata Football and Basketball programs. In his senior year, Rich was a captain on the Football Team.

After graduation, Rich was involved in the alumni association, as well as working on many class reunion committees and representing his class for school-wide events. He worked as a volunteer coach for football and winter indoor lacrosse for several years. In addition, Rich was a member of the IHS Golf Outing Committee. His volunteer efforts extend beyond Immaculata, as he served for many years as a coach in youth football, basketball, and lacrosse programs in Hillsborough and as a three-year member of the Hillsborough Township Park Commission.

Most recently, Rich’s involvement has intensified; he serves as President of the Unitas Caritas Foundation, which supports improvements and renovations to Immaculata’s Athletic facilities, as well as providing scholarships for current and future Spartans. Co-Chair of Immaculata’s Raise the Roof initiative, Rich has led the committee’s fundraising efforts to replace the gymnasium roof and refinish the gymnasium floor.

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to receive the Mackie Award,” says Rich, “Mack was my friend, my boss, my innkeeper, and sometimes the guy who pushed me in the right direction when I needed it. Mack stood for endless volunteerism, especially shown through his incredible support for these schools and the parish. He opened his heart to everyone he met and always lent a helping hand, when needed. I am overwhelmingly proud to receive this award with his name on it.”
