Spread the Light of Christmas

This Christmas, our parish will again spread the Light of Christ, both physically and evangelistically. Sign up to sponsor a tree by Nov. 13.

Spreading the Light of Christ from within the walls of Immaculate Conception Church, located at 35 Mountain Ave., to neighboring areas beyond the confines of the church building is no easy task.

Undertaken physically each Advent with the lighting of the Christmas trees that adorn the parish grounds each year, many purchased in memoriam or in honor of loved ones, spreading the Light of Christ remains far a greater task, extending beyond the physicality of it during the Advent season and flowing into the eternal Christian call to evangelize.

For the many who will help string the lights on Dec. 3, the tangible acts of installing and stringing lights on the Christmas trees that line the walkways of the parish campus are just that: a physical manifestation of their evangelization efforts and their love for Christ.

The trees will be blessed and lit at 5:00 pm on Dec. 11, following the parish’s Advent Reading and Carols beginning at 4:00 pm, and will remain illuminated each night until Jan. 6, the traditional date of the Solemnity of the Epiphany, which marks the arrival of visitors, identified in Scripture as the magi, to the place where Jesus was born.
