The English department strives to help our students develop as active readers and proficient writers. It would be helpful for all students to look at the following documents. One introduces the Department's writing standards and the other shows students how to be actively engaged in the books they read.
1. A hard copy of summer assignments is due on the first day of school; this includes half days. In addition, a copy of the assignment should be saved onto a memory stick in order to upload it onto turnitin.com. In fairness to students who abide by the requirements of the assignments, deadlines shall not be extended. For students who have extenuating circumstances, extensions may be permitted with the approval of the Department Chair.
2. Students will lose 10 points off their assignment grade for every day it is late.
3. Students should expect to be assessed on the readings during the first full week of school.
