Three Spring Track Spartans are eligible to participate in the Meet of Champions competition this Saturday, June 9, 2018 at North Burlington High School, starting at 2:00 PM. In addition to Albano, Sophomore TJ Harkins and Avery Lawrence '18 both qualified by placing second in their events, TJ 's event was the 3200 meter run and Avery's was the 200 meter dash. This is the first year the NJSIAA has adopted a new system, where only the top two finishers at the State Group Meet qualify for Meet of Champions.

The track program at Immaculata continues to develop. Last year, Gianni Riga '18 was the indoor winter track state champ in the 55 meter dash in 2017. In last spring's Meet of Champions, Gianna Riga ran the 100 meter dash; Michael Paustian '18 ran the 3200 meter run and Boys Relay Team ran the 4 x 800. Previously in 2016, Greg Leddy '16 was the first individual Spartan to appear in the Meet of Champions. The Boys Relay Team also ran the 4 x 100.

"Track at Immaculata has become a much higher profile sport," says Coach Chris Heibell '05. "Each year the size of the team and the talent they bring to the program increase and we look forward to our Spartans doing well at Meet of Champions, We are Spartan Proud."
