Mike Sperduto has been named the 2021 Mackie Award recipient for his service to Immaculata High School. Mike and his wife Rachael reside in Oldwick, NJ and have two children, Taylor and Kellen ’12. A seasoned senior financial executive with multinational, diversified Fortune 500 experience, Sperduto retired in 2006 after a twenty-three-year career with Engelhard Corporation in Iselin, New Jersey, last serving as its Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Since then, Sperduto has dedicated endless hours to Immaculata’s programs as a volunteer and financial supporter for many of its initiatives.
Initiated in 2008, the Mackie Award is presented at the annual Immaculata Golf Classic, held this year on Monday, September 27 at Heron Glen Golf Course, Ringoes, NJ. Sperduto’s commitment to the school reflects the spirit of the late J. Brandon (Mackie) Maxwell, the award’s first recipient and for whom the award is named. Through his tremendous volunteer work and donations (especially in Athletics), Mackie was a huge supporter of Immaculata. Individuals, such as Sperduto, keep Mackie’s legacy alive.
Sperduto holds an MBA in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a BS in Accounting from Monmouth University, where he received a baseball athletic scholarship. Prior to his Spartan involvement to volunteer in the school’s football and baseball programs, Sperduto coached local youth sports for over ten years. Immaculata is not the only benefactor of his expertise. Sperduto also served on the Rutgers University Business School of Advisors and the Overlook Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees.
Sperduto’s first Spartan volunteer experience began in 2012 with the Immaculata Football team. In addition, he is currently a varsity asst. running back coach, and has served as a JV Head Coach. In 2013, he began volunteering as an assistant coach for the Baseball team at all three levels, a role he still enjoys today.
In addition to his athletics commitment, Sperduto served on the last two Hall of Fame Committees, as well as several Golf Classic committees. Sperduto lent his financial experience to the school’s Advisory Council and was a key member of the leadership team of the most recent Capital Campaign.
“I have made so many lifelong relationships at the school,” says Mike, “Immaculata has been a wonderful experience from the first time I was on campus in 2008 as a parent. I am glad to have been able to help the school continue as a special place.”
