Admissions Process

Please read this information carefully as there are important changes to the application process for the Class of 2025.

Step 1:

All students wishing to be considered for admission to the Immaculata High School Class of 2025 must complete our online application for admission.

Final report cards for Grades 6 and 7 must be submitted with the application; the first quarter report card for 8th grade should be forwarded to the Admissions Office as soon as it is available.

The deadline for submitting applications for the Class of 2025 is Friday, November 6, 2020.

Step 2:

Students wishing to be considered for an academic merit scholarship, the Marian Scholars program, and/or Honors placement in Math, English, Science, and/or Social Studies must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) on one of the following dates:

  • Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 8:00 AM
  • Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 8:00 AM

Pre-registration for the HSPT is required and can be completed here. Please note that consideration for academic merit scholarships will only be made for students taking the HSPT on one of the two dates provided above.

There is a testing fee of $75 which will be collected on the date of the test. The fee may be paid by cash or check (payable to Immaculata High School).

Students not interested in the above opportunities are not required to take the HSPT.

A note about Honors placement: Qualifying freshmen may be placed in Honors level classes for English, World History, Math (Geometry, Algebra 2/Trigonometry), and/or Biology. To be considered for Honors placement, a student must have a grade of “A” or higher in each of the 4 marking periods of 6th and 7th grade as well as the 1st quarter of 8th grade in each of the subjects for which they are seeking Honors placement as well as a composite HSPT score of 600 or higher.

Step 3:

All applicants to the Class of 2025 will be required to submit two letters of recommendation:

  • An academic reference from a 7th or 8th grade teacher
  • A character reference from someone the student knows outside of school (a coach, scout leader, pastor, etc. The letter cannot be from a family member).

Letters of recommendation are due by Friday, November 20, 2020. Please have the letters addressed to:

Immaculata High School
Attn: Mrs. Michele Blandino, Director of Admissions
240 Mountain Avenue
Somerville, NJ 08876

Admissions decisions will be mailed by Monday, December 21, 2020 to applicants for whom we have received a completed application, 6th and 7th grade final report cards and/or transcripts, 8th grade 1st quarter report card, and two letters of recommendation.

All students wishing to apply to the Class of 2025 after the November 6, 2020 application deadline will be required to take the HSPT even if they do not wish to be considered for Honors placement.

Transfer students are admitted in September and at the start of the second semester in January. To be considered for transfer admission, prospective transfer students will need to submit a completed transfer application, a completed recommendation form, and a transcript of high school grades. The HSPT will be administered monthly as needed beginning in December.

The Transfer Student Application may be completed online by clicking here: Online Transfer Student Application

In addition, all transfer applicants must download, print, and submit the Recommendation Form directly to the student's current guidance counselor. The guidance counselor will complete the form, attach a transcript of grades, and forward directly to Immaculata High School.

Following receipt of the online Transfer Application, Recommendation Form, and transcript of grades, prospective students and parents will be invited to school for an on-site interview. A final decision on acceptance will be made after the on-site interview.
