Cross Country & Track

Coach Chris Heibell

Head Coach Chris Heibell '05, a Second Generation Spartan thanks to his mom, Laura '70, was an experienced runner at the high school and college level. He ran Cross Country and Track for four years at Loyola Maryland, followed by a year of winter and spring track at the University of Kentucky, where he earned his Masters in Sports Management. Coach Heibell has the Immaculata record in the 3200 and the 5k run and has also had previously served as assistant coach at cross country and spring track for four years. He established Immaculata's Winter Track Program and has coached it for four years. This year he takes over all three aspects of the cross country/track program.
According to Coach Heibell, "Having Tim Albano win the Javelin at the Spring State Meet last year was huge for us because up to that point we had been getting all our our points from running events. If we can start being competitive in the field events (jumps, throws) then we can start to really make some noise as a team. It's been a privilege to watch these kids grow and get better each season and I'm really excited to be a part of that and continue the growth this year."
