Head Coach - Gavin Rau '20
Boys Golf Gavin Rau

"As the Director of Junior Golf and Player Engagement for the New Jersey PGA, I have the privilege of overseeing programs that inspire the next generation of golfers. From Drive, Chip & Putt qualifiers to U.S. Kids events and section championships, my role allows me to work closely with PGA Professionals, parents, and players across the state to make golf more accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful for juniors at every level.

Before taking on my current position, I served as an Associate Assistant Golf Professional at TPC Jasna Polana, where I was involved in player development, event operations, and daily member experiences. Competing in events like the Met Open, the NJSGA Four Ball with my dad, and the NJSGA Open has given me a deeper appreciation for the discipline and preparation the game demands, lessons I carry into every coaching interaction.

After earning my degree in Sport Management from Seton Hall University, I began pursuing full PGA Membership as a PGA Associate. My education and time in the industry have taught me that great coaching comes from balancing structure with empathy and communication, allowing players to develop both skill and confidence.

My coaching philosophy is rooted in helping players find confidence through clarity, teaching them not just how to play, but how to think and act like golfers. During my time as a Spartan, I valued the energy, camaraderie, and pride that came with representing something bigger than myself. Those experiences shaped how I now mentor young athletes to grow with integrity, discipline, and purpose both on and off the course."
