Forty Hours Devotion

Forty Hours Devotion
Posted on 03/09/2022

As Catholic Christians, we are called to build our lives and families around prayer. During this season of Lent, God calls us to refocus ourselves away from the challenges of daily life and renew our commitment to prayer. As a community of faith, we invite you and your family to share in this year’s Lenten mission, Testing & Triumph in the Christian Life.  Additional details about the mission and opportunities for personal prayer are below:

The Forty Hours Devotion is 40 hours of continuous adoration of the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. It invites us to "come apart and rest awhile" (Mark 6:31) in the gentle love of Jesus, to lay our burdens at His feet, and be reawakened to the identity and mission given to us as member of His Body, the Church.

The Lenten Mission and Forty Hours Devotion will begin with Evening Vespers and Solemn Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 7:00 PM on Sunday March 20. Vespers will also be prayed in the church on Monday, March 21, at 7:00 PM, and Tuesday, March 22 at 7:00 PM, when the Forty Hours will be concluded.

The parish mission, “Testing and Triumph in the Christian Life” will be presented by Dr. Ximena DeBroeck, PhD, STL.,  professor of Sacred Scripture at St. Mary's Seminary and University in Baltimore, and Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD.

The mission talks will be given in Spanish at 6:30 PM in the church and in English during Vespers at 7:00 PM on each of the three nights of the mission.

During the Forty Hours, the church will remain open throughout the day and night.  Please add your name here if you are able to designate a time to keep vigil with the Lord during the day or night. Of course, you may also come visit the Lord in the Eucharist at any time during this 40 hour period.

Please mark your calendars and plan on joining us for this graced time of adoration and parish renewal during Lent.
