Immaculata freshmen Matthew Martin (left) and Michael Harkins won first and second place during Sunday’s Rainbow Run fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. This was the Spartans’ first official presence in force, sending five volunteer athletes for the non-profit’s third annual event. Habitat for Humanity is a hand up, not a hand out, program that empowers the working poor to achieve home ownership through sweat equity, working side by side with the volunteer labor building their future home. Immaculata volunteer students also participated in an actual Habitat construction project last month in Jersey City, assisting a victim of Superstorm Sandy.
