Msgr. Joseph G. Celano
New Pastor of Immaculate Conception

Bishop Checchio has announced the appointment of Msgr. Joseph G. Celano as the pastor of Immaculate Conception parish effective September 1st. Monsignor Celano will also serve as director of both Immaculata High School and Immaculate Conception School. A seasoned administrator, Msgr. Celano currently serves as pastor of St. Peter the Apostle University and Community Parish, New Brunswick, and Episcopal Vicar for Administration in the Diocese of Metuchen.

Msgr. Celano was born in Newark, New Jersey and attended Mount St. Mary Seminary, Emmitsburg, Maryland. He was ordained a priest on May 30th, 1987. In addition to his current assignment Msgr. Celano has served as chaplain at the Catholic Center at Rutgers University and more recently as pastor of St. Bernard of Clairvaux parish, Bridgewater.

After 18 rewarding years as pastor and senior schools administrator at Immaculate Conception Parish, I am delighted with this appointment and am confident that Msgr. Celano brings wide experience of pastoral and administrative leadership to his new position. Please extend a warm welcome to Msgr. Celano when you meet him and keep him and our parish and schools in your prayers.
