“What Immaculata High School and Immaculate Conception School are doing is forming good citizens and good Catholics, for our country and our Church,” Bishop James F. Checchio said yesterday during his visit to the church and the schools to celebrate Mass and bless the high school’s new solar panel system.

In between the Mass, which was attended by the students and faculty and staff of both schools and the parish, and the late-morning blessing of the solar panel system, the bishop of Metuchen stopped in several classrooms and the cafeteria to greet students at both schools.

“There’s no more important work in our diocese than what goes on in these two buildings,” he said, referencing Catholic education and the parochial schools in Somerville. “I am grateful to all of you and hold you to my heart in gratitude for it.”
