Forty-four students were inducted into the National Honor Society at Immaculata High School on Nov. 6, bringing the total count of students in the school’s chapter to 107 or 20% of the total student body, a testament to the school’s academic rigor, leadership development, and student preparedness.

Ava Nagengast, a senior at Immaculata High School, was recently named a Semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program, and Samantha Hummel and Sharbella Jacobs, both also seniors at the school, were named Commended Students in the program.

Students at Immaculata High School marked an academic milestone, taking a five-year record number of 321 Advanced Placement exams, a stark contrast to the nationwide decline in academic performance since the pandemic-caused learning setbacks.

On an embankment just yards away from Foothill Road in Bridgewater, marked and weathered gravestones dot a triangular plot of land that serves as the site of the Prince Rodgers Cemetery, a final resting place of former slaves.

Matthew Kolakowski of Bridgewater, a future aerospace engineering major at the University of Tennessee, has been named valedictorian of Immaculata High School’s Class of 2023. Tara Khosla of Hillsborough, a future chemical biology major at Stevens Institute of Technology, has been named salutatorian. 

A sister to four brothers and two sisters in the Ellis family, and also a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the late Sister Mary Dee Ellis is remembered for having dedicated her life to others.

Unlike many of its peer Catholic secondary educational institutions, Immaculata High School does not require its students to meet a defined number of service hours in order to graduate. Yet they still volunteer, and in droves.

When he first interviewed for a faculty position in the English Department at Immaculata High School last year, Dennis Schneider was surprised to learn of the school administration’s desire to add esports to its growing roster of teams.

With the popularity and growth of wrestling on the rise, Immaculata High School has announced plans to add wrestling as its 16th varsity sport. The wrestling program will officially begin with the new academic year, under the direction of newly hired head coach Rodney Van Ness.

Grandparents of Immaculata High School students joined our school community for a Mass and reception on Jan. 6.

Immaculata High School has announced the members of its eighth Hall of Fame class, who with their induction next year will join the ranks of those previously inducted into the Hall of Fame, which includes 54 individuals and members of two teams.

“What Immaculata High School and Immaculate Conception School are doing is forming good citizens and good Catholics, for our country and our Church,” Bishop James F. Checchio said yesterday during his visit to the church and the schools to celebrate Mass and bless the high school’s new solar panel system.

Mr. Webber has consistently risen to meet the challenges of leading Immaculata. He has proven himself to be a strong and respected leader, an effective school administrator, and, not least of all, a principal committed to imbuing the school environment with the mission of Catholic education and the values which flow from the Gospel.

With Immaculata as the first high school in the Diocese of Metuchen to use solar as a renewable energy source, several benefits emerge, according to Msgr. Joseph G. Celano.

“An administrator with a teacher’s heart” is how many who know him would describe Edward J. Webber, the new principal of Immaculata High School, Somerville.

Beginning their senior year, five students of the Immaculata High School Class of 2023 were named Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program, a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
